Fumiya is a Japanese architect. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Design and Architecture from Kyoto Institute of Technology, completed in 2020, and a Master of Architecture from the Mendrisio Academy of Architecture at Università della Svizzera Italiana in Switzerland, completed in 2023. His master’s diploma project under the supervision of Dorte Mandrup was recognised for its rigorous theoretical grounding and urban sensitivity, while his bachelor project received the Award of Excellence in 2020.
He gained international experience through internships at Tadao Ando Architects in Osaka, Arrhov Frick Arkitektkontor in Stockholm. After completing his master’s degree, he collaborated with Studio Lauka in Ghent as a partner, contributing to prize-winning competition proposals in Brussels and Bruges, before joining A KIND OF SPACE in Berlin in 2025 as a founding collaborator.
His work spans architectural design, research and visual representation and is shaped by experience across Japan and Europe. It has been exhibited in Kyoto, Tokyo and Switzerland and includes participation in collaborative workshops with Herzog & de Meuron, Basel and Manthey Kula, Oslo. He combines a strong conceptual approach with technical precision and adaptability.
